Short bio
Cameron has over 30 years’ tax experience acting for public and private Australian and international companies and investment funds, and State and foreign governments, on Australian and international taxation issues. Cameron’s practice covers both transactional advice and tax controversy (including tax litigation). He acts for clients across a range of industries including the energy and resources, finance, infrastructure and technology sectors, advising on all areas of corporate and international taxation including mergers and acquisitions, demergers and restructures, corporate finance and capital management, intellectual property management and transfer pricing. He is known for his strategic advice on tax audits and transfer pricing reviews and has extensive experience in resolving disputes with revenue authorities through rulings, negotiations, mediations, early neutral evaluations, GAAR panel appearances and litigation. Cameron has been recognised as a leading tax lawyer in various international surveys including the International Tax Review, Chambers Global Leading Lawyers, and Financial Review Best Lawyers Australia. He has also been professor of taxation law and director of taxation studies at the Law School of the University of Melbourne, conducted research for the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia published as Taxation Problems in the Commercialisation of Intellectual Property, and currently teaches at the Law School on Mineral and Petroleum Law and Resource Joint Ventures.
